Strong organizations don't happen by chance.
They’re built through intentional leadership, practical people practices, sound governance, and responsible privacy management. When those foundations are strong, organizations are better equipped to grow, adapt, and thrive.
Hi, I'm Marlene Lane, Founder and Principal Consultant of LANEiQ Consulting.
Over the past 30+ years, I’ve worked alongside organizations through growth, organizational change, legislative change, and complex workplace challenges. Along the way, I’ve led initiatives, contributed to organization-wide projects, collaborated across functions, and worked with people at every level of an organization, from frontline employees to executive leadership.
Those experiences taught me that leadership, people, governance, and privacy don’t operate independently. When one area changes, the others are affected. Strong organizations recognize those connections and build their foundations accordingly. That’s why I help organizations strengthen the foundations that support long-term success.
Many small and mid-sized organizations and non-profits don’t have dedicated HR or privacy expertise. When workforce challenges and compliance demands arise, they need practical advice from someone who understands how people, leadership, governance, and privacy work together.
Whether your organization is growing, navigating change, developing leaders, or strengthening governance, I help bring clarity to complexity through practical, people-centred solutions.

Many organizations don't reach out until something has already gone wrong. A complaint. An unexpected resignation. A policy gap. A privacy concern. A workplace issue that suddenly feels urgent.
Organizations that invest in strong foundations early spend less time reacting to problems and more time focusing on what they're trying to build.
Very few workplace challenges appear overnight. The conditions that create them usually develop over time.
That's where I do my best work: helping organizations strengthen their foundations before challenges become crises.
You might be dealing with something like this…
People Practices Under Pressure
Your organization is growing, restructuring, or navigating workforce complexity, and your HR policies, practices, or culture haven't kept pace. You need someone who can assess what's actually happening and help you move forward practically.
Privacy Compliance You Can't Ignore
You're collecting personal information — from employees, clients, or both — and you're not confident your policies, processes, or accountability structures meet Canadian legislative requirements. You need clarity before it becomes a problem.
Both Happening at Once
HR and privacy challenges rarely arrive separately. When they collide: a workforce issue with compliance implications, or a privacy incident with people consequences, you need someone who understands the full picture. That's the intersection where I work.
